1. What did you learn from this task?

I learned all about Africa from doing this. I never knew what an empire was. I didn’t think that life was so simple back then. I thought that it was about a lot of wars and trading would have been easy, but I guess it wasn’t. I now know that there are a lot more ways to entertain yourself. They use a lot of art. People make textiles, do wood carving and make jewelry! There’s also some story telling and playing music! Some people even wear a lot of elaborate clothes with 7 earrings on only 1 ear! I found that extremely amazing.

Something else that I learned was how to use a wikispace. I didn’t know how to before this project. I was so happy that I created a few pages all by myself! I had never done that before on a wiki.

kkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkl
2. Did you find this difficult or easy? Why?

In this project, there were both difficult and easy parts. It was sometimes hard to get the information because the website might have had information about Modern Mali instead of Ancient Mali so I had to be really careful. Also, putting the information in your own words was a bit hard because you had to interpret the whole paragraph and rewrite it but sometimes you got tempted to go back and copy something. Another thing was if your group members didn’t agree on something, they would keep on changing it back and forth on the wikispace.

The easy part was making the wiki because you just needed to type the information on to the space and insert some pictures. You also needed to source each picture and all the information. All the sources went onto a separate page except for the pictures. They went on the same page as the picture itself.

3. What would you change about the process you went through to complete the wiki if you were to do the assignment again?

If I could change what my group and I went through, I would change putting just “Mali” into the search box. I would put “Ancient Mali” because usually it just gave information about Modern Mali. Also, I would try to worry more about the information instead of cool text and all those fancy features. I would leave those till the end.
